Fulbright Post-doctoral fellowship

The United States-Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF) plans to award eight fellowships to American postdoctoral scholars who seek to pursue research at Israeli institutions of higher education. The grants are open to researchers in all academic disciplines and support programs of work in Israel for up to 20 months (two academic years).

Azrieli Fellows Program

This prestigious and competitive program, established in 2007, provides financial support to the best and brightest scholars from Israel and around the world.

The Azrieli Fellows Program is currently open to scholars at the postdoctoral level who are Canadian citizens or who have completed their doctorates at Canadian universities, in all fields.

Funding: CAD$40,000, for one year, with possibility of one year renewal

China Scholarships Council - The Hebrew University of Jerusalem Fellowships

The primary focus of this program is to provide scholarships for postdoctoral students and visiting scholars from Chinese institutions each year, to engage in post-doctoral level research in all fields at HUJI for a period of 12 – 24 months.

Funding: The CSC will provide $2000 per month for Post Doctoral Fellows/Visiting Scholars and a one-time return international airfare to Israel by the most economical route, and visa application fees. HUJI host scientists will provide a minimum of US$600 subsidy per month, and adequate working conditions in order to pursue their research, including academic supervision, necessary laboratory services, materials and library services.

Fulbright Post-Doctoral Fellowships

The United States-Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF) awards eight grants to American post-doctoral scholars, in all academic fields, who are about to begin a program of research at Israeli institutions of higher education. The total length of the proposed program of work in Israel must be at least two academic years (20 months net in Israel).

Funding: The Fulbright award totals $40,000, $20,000 per academic year. Fulbright funding supplements basic

The Lady Davis Fellowship Trust

The Lady Davis Trust was established 38 years ago to provide the opportunity for leading scientists and scholars, Post-doctoral Researchers and Doctoral Students from abroad, regardless of nationality, gender or field of scholarship to teach, study and participate in research in Israel at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

The Lady Davis Fellowship Trust is open to all disciplines studied at the Hebrew University.

The terms of the University Fellowships are available on the site of the Lady Davis Fellowship Trust; they are identical whether awarded by the Trust or other university funds.

These Fellowships are awarded after a rigorous academic review process in the Departments, Faculties and the All-University Fellowships committee.

Prospective candidates must establish contact with the relevant Faculty or Department at the Hebrew University, and ensure that there is a Faculty member willing to sponsor their application. A sponsor must have the rank of Lecturer (or above) and he/she must be on the Regular Tenure Track at the Hebrew University.

Guidelines and forms are available on the site of the Lady Davis Fellowship Trust and applications should be submitted there as well. An application made to the Trust will automatically be considered for all the other Awards at the disposal of the University. Consequently, the award of a Fellowship could be financed either by the Trust or by any other of the Funds at the disposal of the University.

Joint Berlin-Jerusalem Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program

Joint Post-Doctoral Fellowships are offered for highly qualified, early career post-doctoral researchers, in all fields. Each fellowship is awarded for 24 months, and consists of two phases:

Phase 1: 12 months of research at Freie Universität Berlin

Phase 2: 12 months of research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

(or vice versa) 

Funding: A monthly stipend of 2,000 Euro and a one-time relocation allowance (2,000 Euro)

Postdoctoral Fellowships at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem 

Jointly funded with the Planning and Budgeting Committee (PBC) of the Council for Higher Education in Israel

The Hebrew University is seeking excellent postdoctoral fellows from China and India in all fields of research, and is offering fellowships to suitable candidates.

Funding: The amount of a fellowship will be no less than NIS 110,000 a year (equivalent to about $28000, depending on the exchange rate), for two years, with an option for a third year. The funding is divided so that the PBC pays 63% of the fellowship, and the sponsoring faculty member at the Hebrew University pays 37% of the fellowship.

Selection Process:
Step 1: Internal Selection of applications 
Applications will be first submitted to the internal university committee for internal grading.
Step 2: The top 20 applications (50% men and 50% women) will be submitted by the University to the CHE

Two-Year US Post-Doctoral Research Fellows to Israel

The United States-Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF) and the Israel Institute plan to award a fellowship to an American postdoctoral scholar who seeks to pursue research at Israeli institutions of higher education in the field of Israel Studies. 

Funding: Program grants total $80,000, $40,000 per academic year. In addition, the host institution will also provide a standard post-doctoral grant.
