American Thoracic Society Foundation - ATS/GSK Research Grant in COVID-19

28 April, 2021

The Zuckerman STEM Leadership Program is designed to transform Israel’s scientific landscape, dramatically expanding its talent pool by attracting excellent postdoctoral researchers from leading universities in the United States and Canada. Zuckerman Scholars will join the faculties of the Hebrew University for postdoctoral training and research in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Once they complete their research, Zuckerman Postdocs are expected to accept faculty positions at top North American universities, weaving a network of academic collaboration that will greatly benefit US-Israeli scientific cooperation.

Five postdoctoral scholarships are available for outstanding postdoctoral fellows at the Hebrew University for the 2022-2023 academic year in one of the following two tracks:

  • Israeli University Postdoc Track: A 2-year postdoctoral scholarship through which scholars conduct research at the Hebrew University. The scholarship may be renewed on a competitive basis for a 3rd year, if circumstances permit.
  • Joint North American-Israeli Postdoc Track: A 2-year joint postdoctoral scholarship through which scholars spend part of their time at the Hebrew University, and part of their time at a US or Canadian university. Scholars in this track can decide how to divide their time between the two institutions.

Funding:

  • Israeli University Postdoc Track: Scholarship of $52,000 per academic year for up to two years. Of this amount, $50,000 is provided by the Zuckerman Fund ($44,400 for living expenses [$3,700 per month] and $5,600 for research and travel to professional conferences). An additional $2,000 in research funds is provided to scholars by HUJI supervisor.
