In this upcoming webinar, Dr. Oded Adomi Leshem, Founder of the International Hub for Hope Research (ReHOPE) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s PICR Lab and Senior Research Associate at the Hebrew University, will explore: What is hope? What are its merits and dangers? How did hope affect human evolution, and what is its role in times of crisis and social unrest? Combining philosophical, theological, and psychological perspectives, Prof. Oded will take the audience into the depths of hope and its role in addressing the significant socio-political challenges of our times.
Dr. Oded Adomi Leshem is a political psychologist who has been fascinated by the concept of hope for at least a decade. His interest in hope (and its absence) began in 2012 with his first experimental studies on hope inducement. Since then, he has published numerous articles and book chapters on hope and despair as political phenomena and lectured on hope to a wide range of academic and non-academic audiences. In 2024, he founded ReHOPE. As a Senior Research Associate, he teaches B.A., M.A., and Ph.D.-level courses, including a new graduate-level course titled “Theoretical, Empirical, and Applied Aspects of Hope.” He was born and raised in Jerusalem and currently resides with his family in Tel Aviv. Before turning to research and teaching, he worked as a documentary filmmaker and news cameraman covering conflict and war.
