Bilateral Agreements for Academic Staff Exchange with Partner Universities

The duration of short-term exchange usually ranges from 3 weeks to a full semester. Calls for Applications are typically the responsibility of the home university.

Participating partner universities include:

Erasmus+ Staff Mobility (STA)
Erasmus+
As a first step, interested academics are encouraged to contact the International Office at their home university to determine whether an active agreement with HUJI is in place. If so, the next step is to reach out to a relevant HUJI staff member to explore possibilities and determine a suitable time for a visit.

Formal Erasmus+ Requirements
  • The minimum duration of a stay is 5 days. Longer stays are possible, if the agreement and budget permit.
  • Participants are required to deliver a minimum of 8 teaching hours per week. Teaching can take on a variety of forms, such as guest presentations in courses related to one’s field of expertise, workshops for graduate or doctoral students, one-on-one supervision, public lectures, etc.
  • Support for research-based stays is not provided within the scope of Erasmus+, though research activities may be conducted in combination with a teaching stay.
Application Process
  • There is no deadline for applications. Interested teaching staff are invited to contact a relevant HUJI staff member to discuss opportunities and timing for a teaching visit during the academic year.
  • Applicants are advised to contact the International Office at their home university for further information on the application process. Specific regulations and deadlines may apply.
  • If the application is successful (in the case of a competitive call), the partner university staff exchange coordinator will notify Hebrew University’s International Office of the nomination via e-mail.
  • Following the nomination, a formal invitation letter will be issued to the visiting academic staff member by the dean of the hosting HUJI faculty, in accordance with HUJI’s internal policies.
Mobility Agreement for Teaching
  • Prior to arrival, staff are required to have a signed Teaching Mobility Agreement . This agreement outlines the goals and program, and forms the basis of the mobility. The agreement must be approved and signed by the visiting academic, as well as the home and the host institutions.
  • At HUJI, the agreement should be e-signed by the International Office and returned to the visiting academic.
  • Important: The agreement will only be signed by the International Office after the formal letter of invitation from the dean has been issued.
  • The fully signed version should be sent to HUJI’s International Office.
