Program Details:
M.A. in Jewish Studies
Study Jewish studies in the Jewish homeland with prominent Jewish scholars
“Jewish Studies”, in all its aspects, represents one of academia's most profound and intriguing fields of study. Whether motivated by faith, research, or pure intellectual curiosity, Hebrew University's M.A. in Jewish Studies offers you the singular opportunity to learn with world-renowned authorities in the center of Jewish existence, Jerusalem.
Set in the only city in the world steeped in 4,000 years of Jewish life and home to dozens of religious sites, libraries, archives, museums, and research institutes, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s M.A. in Jewish Studies is designed to provide you with the most current thinking and information in the field and to prepare you for careers as scholars or as professionals in a variety of related fields.
The program’s two-year curriculum is divided along two periods: ancient to early medieval, and medieval to modern. During this time, you will explore the breadth and depth of Jewish culture, literature, history, and philosophy, while gaining the investigative, critical thinking and communication skills needed for advanced academic research. You will study Modern Hebrew, achieving at least an intermediate level and, being in Israel, have opportunities to practice it in the real world, adding another unique dimension to your studies and perspective.
