The global Corona pandemic underscores the criticality and dynamic nature of the public health domain and, more importantly, of the people who propel it forward . As a student of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s International Master of Public Health program, or IMPH, you will acquire the skills and knowledge needed to take a leading role in the public health community and make a difference when and where it is needed most.
“Public health”, which refers to the entirety of the efforts made to improve and protect communal health and well-being, is a broad, ever changing field of study and practice. Taught by faculty members of the globally recognized Hebrew University-Hadassah Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine, the IMPH program will provide you with the breadth and depth of knowledge and specialized skills required to pursue a career in Public Health.
The program’s reputation and its location in Jerusalem, at the heart of the Startup Nation, attracts students from around the world, many who come from lesser developed nations and eventually return home to occupy leading health system positions. Perhaps more than ever before, people now understand the unpayable debt owed to the public health professionals of the world, and we, at Hebrew University’s International Master of Public Health, take great pride in having educated and trained a select group of them. In the 50 years since the program’s inception, over 900 physicians, nurses, health economists, and others, from 102 developing and developed countries, have graduated and taken on positions with prominent academic and clinical institutions in all sectors of the economy.
Many graduates are employed in familiar jobs related to planning for and responding to health emergencies, while many others work in disease prevention, disaster relief, healthcare access, clean water supply and more. A large number of graduates return to their countries of origin, working for organizations such as the WHO, UNICEF, USAID, Red Cross / Crescent Societies, etc. The result is a formidable network of IMPH graduates in key positions around the globe.
