Apply to the university abroad

Congratulations! You were accepted to a student exchange program. What should you do now?

Acceptance letter
Cancellation
Nomination
Apply with the university abroad
Acceptance/rejection

Acceptance letter

The acceptance letter you will receive by email will indicate the university to which you were assigned, out of the three options you requested. The Acceptance Committee makes considerable efforts to meet the students’ requests. However, for universities where demand is high, it may not be possible to give everyone their first choice. If you did not receive one of the universities you requested on your application, you will be offered alternative universities where there is space.

You must inform the International Office of your decision to take part in the offered student exchange program within five days of receiving the acceptance letter.

Cancellation

Students who confirm their intention to go on the student exchange program are entitled to cancel their participation within 14 days from the time they provided a positive answer, without a cancellation fee.

Students who cancel their participation more than 14 days following confirmation will be charged a processing and management fee of NIS 500.

Nomination

Once you are accepted to a student exchange program to a specific foreign university, the International Office/your faculty will send an official nomination letter to the foreign university confirming your nomination (each foreign university has fixed nomination schedules to which we must comply).

Apply with the university abroad

You will receive an email from the International Office/your faculty with instructions on how to apply to the university abroad once your nomination is confirmed by the host university.

For the autumn semester and for a full-year program, the application process lasts from late February through July; for the spring semester, registration takes place from July to November, in accordance with the schedule of the specific university.

Be patient – expect to receive application instructions a few weeks before the application deadline at the host university. It’s very important not to contact the host university independently until you receive relevant instructions and guidelines.

The application process is usually online and is likely to include uploading some or all of the following documents:

  • Updated transcript of study
  • Academic recommendations
  • Original passport photos
  • Copy of your valid passport page
  • Language proficiency authorization
  • Bank records
  • Letters of support from parents or guardians
  • Scholarship approval (if relevant)

Please make sure to fulfill the prerequisites required by the host university, such as language requirements, course requirements, etc. (these appear on each university’s website and fact sheet). Failure to do so will result in your inability to participate in the student exchange program, even though we’ve nominated you as a suitable candidate.

Acceptance/rejection

After you complete your application to the foreign university and your application is evaluated by the Acceptance Committee, you will receive an acceptance or rejection letter.

If you are accepted, the host university will send you an official acceptance letter and will inform you about the following stages. You must then start preparing for the trip, including obtaining a student visa.
