The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has appointed former Intel Vice President and former Hebrew University Vice President and Director General Yishai Fraenkel as its new Vice President for Advancement and External Relations.

 

Fraenkel will lead the University's global engagement with alumni, donors, friends, and strategic partners as Hebrew University enters its second century. He succeeds Ambassador Yossi Gal, who will continue to support the University as Special Advisor to the President.

 

A Leader in Technology and Higher Education

Fraenkel brings decades of leadership experience in both industry and academia. During his career at Intel Corporation, he held senior leadership positions in Israel and the United States, overseeing multinational engineering initiatives in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. He later served two terms as the Hebrew University's Vice President and Director General, giving him extensive knowledge of the institution and its global community.

 

Welcoming the appointment, Hebrew University President Prof. Tamir Sheafer said, "Yishai Fraenkel brings a rare combination of global technology leadership, deep institutional knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to the Hebrew University. Prof. Sheafer also thanked Ambassador Yossi Gal for his years of dedicated service, noting that his continued role as Special Advisor to the President will ensure continuity in advancing the University's international relationships.
