Create

SINGAPORE

The Hebrew University`s scientific cooperation with Singapore is grounded in its long-term collaboration with CREATE, an international collaborative research facility in Singapore, which includes the establishment of SHARE in 2016, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s only international research center outside of Israel. HUJI also enjoys a long-standing and fruitful collaboration with Singapore`s two leading universities: Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS).

CREATE, Singapore

CREATE in Singapore is an international collaborative facility that is home to research centers set up by top universities.

Hebrew University is part of CREATE through SHARE (Singapore-HUJI Alliance for Research and Enterprise). SHARE was established in 2016 to advance research collaboration with Singapore in general, and in particular with HUJI`s partner universities in Singapore, NTU and NUS. SHARE serves as an intellectual hub for research, scholarship, entrepreneurship and post-graduate exchange, with the aim of strengthening post-doctoral training and bringing together leading scientists from both countries to tackle major global challenges.

Currently, SHARE has three active CREATE collaborative research projects with its two partner universities in Singapore, NUS and NTU:

  1. SGSR: Soft Robotics for Smart Grippers
  2. MLD: Intra-Create Collaboration Grant
  3. ISURF: Data-Intensive Autonomous Intelligent Urban Farming For Whole-Plant Yield Optimization

Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore

A research-intensive public university, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) is home to 33,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the Engineering, Business, Science, Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences, and Graduate Colleges. The university’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine is operated jointly with Imperial College London.

NTU is home to several world-class autonomous institutes: the National Institute of Education, the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, the Earth Observatory of Singapore, and the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering. The university also houses various leading research centers, such as the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) and the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N).

Ranked among the world's top universities by QS, NTU has been named the world's top young university for the past seven years. The university's main campus is frequently listed among the top 15 most beautiful university campuses in the world. Apart from its main campus, NTU also has a campus in Novena, Singapore's healthcare district.

Under the NTU Smart Campus Vision, the university harnesses the power of digital technology and tech-enabled solutions to support better learning and living experiences, the discovery of new knowledge, and the sustainability of resources.

Hebrew University and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) first collaborated in 2008 with a faculty agreement in life sciences, followed by a faculty agreement in law in 2011. In 2013, both universities signed a general MoU that includes student exchange. In 2018, a joint PhD program in the field of nanomaterials was added, which in 2024 was expanded to include Materials Science, Soft Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, Sustainable Materials for Food and Agriculture, Food Science and Technology, Cellular Agriculture, Chemistry, Natural Inspired Materials, and 3D Printing.

National University of Singapore (NUS)

The National University of Singapore aspires to be a vital community of academics, researchers, staff, students and alumni working together in the spirit of innovation and enterprise for a better world. Its singular focus on talent is the cornerstone of a truly great university that is dedicated to quality education, influential research, and visionary enterprise, in service of the country and its society.

Hebrew University and the National University of Singapore (NUS) first teamed up in 2011 with faculty agreements in law and business administration, and further expanded their cooperation with a joint PhD program in the fields of medicine and science, as well as a university-wide student exchange program. In 2016, a general MoU between the universities was signed, including student exchange.
