All Hebrew University students and post-doctoral fellows who are not Israeli residents or citizens must have Israeli health insurance coverage while they are students at the Hebrew University.
The insurance can be arranged through the Hebrew University or independently.
Insurance via Hebrew University (recommended)
Students that live in Jerusalem can opt for the below health policy options:
-
Harel with “Clalit” Health Medical Organization (HMO) – recommended:
The medical services are provided in the Clalit clinics. Most of the services here are under the same roof (pharmacy, laboratory services, physicians). -
Harel Private Health Services – Health Insurance Collective Policy:
The medical services under this policy are provided in private clinics, laboratories, and pharmacies that have an agreement with Harel Insurance Company.
Both of the above collective university policies provide the same coverage - comprehensive coverage for pregnancy, psychological services, emergency flight evacuation, and more which are not necessarily included in other health insurance policies.
Note that the main difference is that the Harel Clalit Health Services provide coverage for the Covid 19 vaccinations and thus we recommend this plan.
Faculty of Agriculture, Rehovot – for students and post-doctoral fellows living in Rehovot, the only medical services available are via Harel with Clalit as there are no private services that can be offered in Rehovot.
Rothberg International School (RIS) students should purchase their insurance via RIS and should contact Rothberg School.
