Mechina (Preparatory Program)

Mehina Program

Earning a bachelor’s degree in a new country can be challenging. With our one-year Mechina program, we’ll offer you the support and preparation you need to thrive academically and socially as you launch your academic career. Offered through Hebrew University’s Rothberg International School, our preparatory program is intended for high school (secondary school) graduates from abroad who wish to pursue undergraduate studies in Israel, but do not qualify for direct admission to a Hebrew University degree program.

As a Mechina student, you’ll take intensive language courses in Hebrew and, if you did not graduate from an English-speaking high school, you’ll benefit from English language courses as well. Furthermore, you’ll attend classes in mathematics or statistics, Jewish and Israel studies, and you’ll choose introductory courses in an area that interests you, such as psychology, business, statistics, international relations, or economics.

In addition to our standard Mechina program, special preparatory tracks are available for high school graduates from France (Basis) and from Russia, the Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and Latvia (Yesod). After successfully completing these programs, graduates will be admitted to bachelor’s degree studies at Hebrew University without being required to take the Psychometric Entrance Test.

High school graduates from East Jerusalem seeking higher education are welcome to apply to our preparatory program Sadarah/Kidma. With a strong focus on academic core subjects (Hebrew, English, mathematics and history), program participants will be thoroughly prepared for degree studies at an Israeli university. Additionally, participants will benefit from ongoing support and academic advising throughout their program participation.
