Study Abroad

Study Abroad HUJI

If you are an international undergraduate or graduate student and want to experience living in Israel while earning academic credit, our Study Abroad program might be just what you are looking for. Offered by Hebrew University’s Rothberg International School (RIS), this program gives you the opportunity to study in Israel for a semester or an academic year. You’ll choose from a wide range of courses offered at RIS in Israel and Middle East studies, Jewish and religious studies, social and political studies, and business and legal studies, or attend English-language courses offered by other departments across the Hebrew University. You’ll have the opportunity to study with some of Hebrew University’s leading professors and, upon completion, you’ll receive an official transcript of study.

If you’re an undergraduate student, your program will begin with an optional intensive Hebrew-language course (Ulpan) and continue through the semester with Hebrew or Arabic language study and elective courses. The Undergraduate Division also offers unique flagship courses on subjects such as the human brain or tech in Israel, taught by some of the university’s most renowned professors and guest lecturers who are experts in their fields. What’s more, these courses will allow you the opportunity to study together with your Israeli peers and get to know local students.

You’ll also have the option of combining your studies with an internship or an independent study project under the weekly guidance of a designated faculty member. Additionally, you’ll be assigned an academic advisor from the get-go, who will offer ongoing academic support throughout your study abroad experience.

As a graduate student, you’ll build your own program of study by enrolling in courses at the Rothberg International School and Hebrew University’s faculties. You may also enroll in Hebrew or Arabic language courses at RIS, and many additional language options are offered through Hebrew University’s Faculty of Humanities.

To guarantee that you make the most of your time in Israel, the Student Life Team at RIS offers an exciting variety of cultural and social activities, holiday celebrations, clubs, tours, jam sessions, and informal lectures. When you’re not in class, you’ll join students from around the globe on unforgettable tours and trips, such as a guided walk through Jerusalem’s Old City, or a sunrise hike to Masada and a dip in the Dead Sea. As Israeli students themselves, our Student Life madrichim will be an incredibly helpful resource, offering ongoing support to you throughout your stay.
