Partnership History

Hebrew University and the University of Toronto have been collaborating since 2007, based on university-wide and faculty - level agreements in the fields of social work, the arts and humanities, and social sciences, including public policy and international relations. The broad portfolio of joint activities includes student exchanges at all levels, study abroad programs, summer programs, joint degree programs and joint research projects and workshops.

Highlights

In 2020, Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Toronto joined forces to launch a Strategic Research & Training Alliance. Teams consisting of three principal investigators from each institution are invited to jointly submit proposals for the development of a collaborative research focus, including the exchange of graduate and undergraduate students and researchers, as well as one post-doctoral fellow.

For the first cycle, from 2020 to 2024, projects in the fields of medicine, engineering and science will receive funding. The second cycle, from 2021 to 2025, funds projects in the social sciences, humanities, law, and social work.

  2. The Halbert Center for Canadian Studies at HUJI – Supports and funds research on Canada by researchers and graduate students at Hebrew University. In addition, HUJI researchers and students are eligible to apply to programs offered by the Israel Association for Canadian Studies.
  3. Bilateral exchange programs for students – Annual Calls for Applications are published for undergraduate and post-graduate student mobility in both directions, for study periods of 1-2 semesters.
  4. HUJI-UT Entrepreneurship Highway - cooperation, co-learning and mutual visits with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
