Background

A strategic partnership with the University of Vienna was initiated in 2011 and is based on a series of agreements, including a Strategic Collaboration Agreement signed in 2011, a university-level Student Exchange Agreement, exchange agreements in various fields (including quantum science, humanities and Austrian studies), as well as Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching and Training (STT) in all fields. The partnership spans a wide range of joint teaching and research activities including:

  1. Joint seminars and workshops with researchers in selected disciplines that provide a framework to further develop research projects and prepare project proposals
  2. Mobility fellowships
  3. Joint classrooms

Highlights

  1. Joint Seminars – A Call for Applications for Joint Seminars and Workshops is published annually. Since 2015, twenty joint workshops in a variety of disciplines have been funded: marine science, quantum science, business administration, chemistry, life sciences, archaeology, agriculture, Bible studies, law, Japanese studies, and more.
  2. Quantum Initiative – Research and Development
  3. Summer Language Courses – Offered in German for HUJI Students (funded by HUJI Austrian Friends)

Founded in 1365, the University of Vienna is one of the oldest universities in the world. Today, it is the highest ranked university in Austria and – with approximately 7,000 academic staff members and about 10,000 graduates each year – by far the largest research and higher education institution in the country, as well as one of the largest in Europe. The University of Vienna is a comprehensive research-intensive public university with a strong international orientation.
